We frequently cover stories about climate change and the impact that human behavior has on the environment. We’ve covered thedrop in monarch butterfly population due to environmental issues, how climate change canaffect human mental health, and even government scientific studies on how to control the climate.
However, anyone who is truly open minded must always compare what you know against what science tells you is true. So long as you are able modify your beliefs based on what new scientific evidence tells you, then you are not suffering fromconfirmation bias.
The problem is that when it comes to climate change, people seem to interpret scientific findings in such a way that bolsters what they would like to believe, whether that is that humans are creating climate change, or whether those changes are cyclical and natural.
